The short answer
Use the cable specification approved by your project professional, then state core count, conductor details, cross-section, total length and required reel arrangement. Ethiopian buyers should compare offers using the same units and exact product references. Cable selection and sizing belong with the responsible designer, not a price-led substitution.
What to include in your quotation request
| Requirement | Details to provide |
|---|---|
| Specification | Approved cable designation and supporting project reference. |
| Construction | Required conductor, core and other technical details. |
| Length | Total metres, reel lengths and any continuous-length requirement. |
| Traceability | Offered reference, documentation and package identification. |
Separate design decisions from purchasing details
The buying team should request the cable that the responsible professional has specified. Keep the project reference and revision with the enquiry, and do not reduce it to a broad phrase such as power cable. Ask the supplier to identify the exact offered product. If an alternative is proposed, route it for technical approval before accepting the commercial offer. This guide does not calculate cable size or establish installation suitability.
Explain how the total length is divided
A total quantity may not describe the lengths needed on site. Ask the project team whether any continuous runs affect the required reel arrangement. State whether your quantity is metres or a number of reels and request the offered length per reel. Compare pack rounding and any length differences openly. Do not treat a lower reel price as a lower metre price until the quantities have been reconciled.
Keep records useful for the receiving team
Request the product documentation required by the project and identify the cable references on the packing list. Your receiving team should be able to connect each reel to an approved order line. Agree how quantity or reference discrepancies will be reported. Add the Ethiopian destination and delivery scope to the UAE enquiry, and have your importer confirm any product-specific requirements before purchase rather than relying on the general cable category.
Buyer questions
Can a supplier choose a smaller cable to reduce cost?
Any change to the approved specification should be reviewed by the responsible project professional before purchase.
