Begin with the floor, not the lid photograph
Two floor boxes can have similar lids while requiring different installation depths or arrangements. Obtain the relevant floor information from the fit-out team and record the approved dimensional constraints. Note whether the purchase is for a new installation or an existing opening. For a replacement, photographs are useful alongside measurements and the existing manufacturer's reference; they should not be treated as proof that another box will fit.
Count complete usable assemblies
An offer for an empty box is different from an offer including its required modules and lid. Ask the supplier to itemise the supplied components and identify anything excluded. An illustrative request for twelve desk locations might require twelve assemblies, but the number of power and data modules must come from the approved layout. Keep the number of locations, boxes and individual modules in separate columns to prevent incorrect quantity comparisons.
Match function before matching the finish
A coordinated plate colour does not tell you whether a switch mechanism performs the intended function. Ask the electrical contractor to confirm the required device reference and configuration. List exact finish codes when appearance must match existing accessories. If an alternative range is proposed, review both the technical components and visible parts before accepting it. Do not mix components from different product ranges without documented compatibility confirmation.
Keep installation responsibility clear
Use the enquiry to describe what must be supplied, not to improvise wiring or installation instructions. The responsible contractor should confirm suitability and applicable project requirements.
