The short answer
A joinery purchase should pair the approved sheet-material schedule with the cabinet hardware schedule. Specify material type, thickness, sheet dimensions and finish, plus exact hinge, runner and handle references. Keep cutting, edging, fabrication and installation separate from raw-material supply unless those services are expressly quoted.
What to include in your quotation request
| Requirement | Details to provide |
|---|---|
| Sheet material | Approved type, grade, thickness, sheet size and quantity. |
| Visible finish | Face finish, colour reference and matching requirements. |
| Hardware | Hinges, runners, handles and approved mounting accessories. |
| Fabrication scope | Whole sheets versus cut pieces, edging and installation responsibilities. |
Let the joinery design set the material
Plywood, other wood-based boards and solid timber are not interchangeable procurement labels. Ask the joinery professional to specify the appropriate material for the intended cabinet or fitting. Preserve the complete approved description in the enquiry. State whether the quotation is for whole sheets or a prepared component schedule. A supplier should not have to infer the required board from a photograph of the finished furniture.
Separate a cutting list from a sheet order
A list of finished panel dimensions does not automatically establish how many whole sheets should be purchased. The fabricator should confirm layout, allowances and purchasing quantities. Record whether cutting or edging is required and who will provide it. As a comparison exercise, an offer for raw sheets cannot be evaluated as equivalent to finished panels without accounting for the different scope. Do not assume that fabrication is included in a material quotation.
Schedule hardware by cabinet type
List hinges, drawer runners, handles and connectors against cabinet references. Ask the fabricator to confirm exact model requirements and compatible mounting accessories. Keep the number of cabinets separate from the number of hardware pieces or pairs. For repeated units, use one approved hardware schedule and multiply the confirmed quantities carefully. Mark any cabinets with different dimensions or operating requirements rather than treating every unit as identical.
Approve finishes and receiving arrangements
For visible surfaces and handles, record finish codes and any accepted samples. Identify components that must match across the project. Tell AAMA the Dubai delivery location and receiving restrictions for bulky sheets, and ask for the agreed handling scope to be stated. On receipt, compare material references, quantities and visible condition against the accepted order before the fabricator begins work.

Buyer questions
Can AAMA review plywood and cabinet hardware together?
Yes. Send separate material and hardware schedules with approved references and quantities.
Does ordering plywood include cutting?
Do not assume so. Cutting, edging and fabrication must be expressly requested and confirmed.
Who calculates the sheet quantity?
Your fabricator should approve the purchasing quantity based on the actual cutting layout and allowances.
