Avoid comparing by port count alone
Two switches with the same number of ports can serve different requirements. Use the specification approved by your IT team and keep the required features visible in a comparison sheet. Ask the supplier to name the exact proposed model rather than a general product family. If an alternative is offered, have the reviewer identify any differences before price becomes the deciding factor. Record the approved choice for future additions.
Identify the items outside the main unit
Ask whether uplink modules, cables and rack-mounting components are included. List any separately required items with quantities so the installation is not delayed by a missing accessory. Have the IT team confirm compatibility with existing equipment. If the proposal includes licences or subscriptions, identify their term and who manages renewal. Keep hardware, software and service scope separately understandable even when a supplier offers one package total.
Prepare the batch acceptance record
Ask for model references and serial records where appropriate to the order. Agree the receiving and discrepancy process before dispatch. Clarify whether installation, configuration and ongoing support are included or assigned elsewhere. State the Ethiopian destination, required timing and requested handover scope in the UAE enquiry. Keep the final accepted quotation and technical approval together so the receiving team can check the batch accurately.
