The short answer
To request a useful lighting and electrical quotation, send a schedule with item references, quantities, electrical ratings, dimensions and installation requirements. For lights, include brightness, colour temperature and mounting details. For cables and fittings, provide the project-approved specification. State your destination and identify where alternatives are acceptable.
What to include in your quotation request
| Requirement | Details to provide |
|---|---|
| LED light fittings | Quantity, lumens, wattage, colour temperature, dimensions, mounting and control requirements. |
| Electrical accessories | Product reference, rated voltage and current, finish, dimensions and intended system. |
| Cables | Cable type, conductor specification, cross-section, core count, required length and project reference. |
| Export scope | Destination city, required timing, packing needs and requested delivery responsibilities. |
Why a product name is not enough
“LED panel” or “electrical cable” describes a product family, not a complete purchasing requirement. Two offers can use the same general description while differing in output, dimensions, ratings or included components. Assign each line a project reference and attach the relevant schedule or technical requirement. This makes it easier to see whether a proposed product matches the requirement before you compare prices.
Compare light output as well as power
Lumens describe the amount of light a source emits; watts describe power consumption. Colour temperature describes the warm or cool appearance of the light. Keep these as separate fields instead of assuming that matching wattage means matching brightness or appearance. The FTC guide to buying light bulbs explains these distinctions. Its label guidance is US-specific; it is not a statement of UAE or destination-country approval.
Confirm controls and included components
Tell the supplier whether a fitting must work with an existing dimmer, driver, sensor or automation platform. Ask for the proposed model and compatibility information, and identify any items that must be supplied separately. The mounting arrangement matters too: recessed, surface-mounted and suspended fittings can need different components. Your responsible project professional should approve the complete selection, especially where electrical ratings, installation conditions or mandatory standards are involved.
Specify cables from an approved design
Do not choose a cable size from a general product description or a photograph. Put the project-approved cable specification into the enquiry, including the conductor, cross-section, cores and required lengths. Identify the application and any mandatory documentation. Keep reels, cut lengths, connectors and termination accessories distinct in the BOM. Electrical design and installation requirements should be confirmed by the responsible qualified professional; a procurement checklist does not replace that work.
Compare the complete quotation
Review the quoted item reference, model, quantity and unit alongside the specification. Check whether drivers, mounting kits and accessories are included. Ask for differences from your original schedule to be marked clearly. A price comparison is incomplete if one offer includes required components while another excludes them. Also confirm quotation validity, availability, warranty arrangements and the agreed delivery scope before accepting an order.
Prepare for local supply or export
For delivery in the UAE, state the delivery location and any receiving restrictions. For export, add the destination country and city and discuss packing, transport and documentation responsibilities. If you are sourcing for Ethiopia, identify any product requirements your receiving team or broker needs checked before purchase. AAMA Trading LLC handles local and export enquiries from its Sharjah base; brands, models, availability and order arrangements are confirmed during quotation.
Buyer questions
Can I request lighting, cables and electrical fittings together?
Yes. AAMA accepts mixed-category enquiries. List each item separately with quantities and specifications, and identify any exact-match requirements.
Are installation and accessories included?
Only when explicitly agreed in the quotation. List required installation services and accessories separately so the scope can be confirmed.
Can you quote an alternative model?
State which requirements are mandatory and whether alternatives may be proposed. Review the alternative against the project specification before approving it.
