The short answer
Compare Dubai-to-Ethiopia quotations only after aligning product specifications, quantities, currency and delivery scope. Separate goods, packing, transport and destination charges, and mark unconfirmed costs rather than treating them as zero. State the agreed trade term and named place. Ask your importer or broker to verify product-specific destination requirements and charges.
What to include in your quotation request
| Requirement | Details to provide |
|---|---|
| Goods basis | Same product specification, condition, quantity, unit and included accessories. |
| Commercial basis | Currency, validity, payment terms and lead-time assumptions. |
| Delivery basis | Named handover point, trade term, packing and transport inclusions. |
| Unconfirmed items | Destination charges, documentation costs and any other excluded or pending amounts. |
Normalise the goods before comparing the total
Put each supplier's offered product next to your original requirement. Check configuration, dimensions, grade, finish, condition and included accessories. A lower price for a different item is a different offer, not automatically a saving. Record accepted alternatives separately and obtain the appropriate approval. Keep the quantity and unit consistent: ten packs, ten pieces and ten metres are not interchangeable. For mixed orders, compare line totals as well as the overall amount.
Name the delivery point precisely
A phrase such as delivery included leaves important questions unanswered. Ask where responsibility transfers and what the seller's price actually covers. The International Chamber of Commerce explains Incoterms® rules as trade terms that clarify delivery tasks, costs and risks. Where a rule is used, identify the named place and version in the agreement. Have the parties confirm the intended scope rather than assuming a term settles every contract issue.
Build a worksheet with visible unknowns
Use separate rows for goods, packing, agreed transport, insurance if applicable, and destination costs confirmed by the relevant party. Add a source and confirmation date beside each amount. Leave pending values marked unconfirmed rather than entering zero. If you convert currencies for comparison, record the rate and date used; that working comparison is not a promise of the rate available when payment is made. Keep tax and duty estimates with the specialist who supplied them.
Check timing and payment on the same basis
A stated lead time may start from order confirmation, payment or technical approval. Ask which trigger applies and whether the period covers supply only or the agreed transport stage. Compare quotation validity and payment terms alongside price. If an order is split into phases, ask which prices and availability statements apply to each release. Do not assume a supplier has reserved stock merely because an offer has been issued.
Allocate mixed-order costs carefully
When several categories share packing or transport, an overall charge may need allocation for internal costing. Record the method your business uses and keep it consistent. Do not present an allocation as a supplier's product price or a customs valuation decision. Separate fragile, bulky or specially handled goods where they affect the actual quoted scope. Our mixed-category sourcing guide explains how to prepare a combined product list without losing item-level detail.
Close the open questions before acceptance
Ask the importer or broker to confirm the requirements for the actual products and destination. Reconcile outstanding deviations, exclusions, packing details and the receiving procedure with the supplier. Save the final quotation version and the approvals it depends on. AAMA Trading LLC can review a BOM for Ethiopian sourcing and provide a proposed scope through quotation. This guide does not give freight prices, duty rates or a guaranteed delivered cost; those depend on the actual order and agreed arrangements. The Ethiopian Customs Trade Portal provides a product-based document enquiry; confirm the current requirements with your importer or broker.
Buyer questions
Does a UAE product price include Ethiopian import costs?
Only where the written quotation explicitly includes the relevant scope. Ask which destination charges remain the buyer's responsibility.
Can I compare two offers with different delivery terms?
First adjust the comparison to the same scope using confirmed costs. Keep unknown amounts visible.
Can you give a fixed shipping price from this guide?
No. Product details, quantities, packing, route and delivery responsibilities must be reviewed for an actual quotation.
